The sky opens before the earth catches up. Light spills through the clouds, settling into the haze over the distant hills while the tree line below still waits its turn. This is the in-between moment, the promise already kept in the heavens, not yet finished on the ground. Painted in oil, built up slow, the way real light moves. Held in the waiting, until it isn't.
