The Ground Between

Original Oil Painting by Danny Vasquez

There are seasons when peace feels distant. We can see glimpses of beauty on the horizon—moments that remind us of God's goodness and the promise of what is to come—yet the ground beneath our feet feels heavy with every step.
At low tide, the shoreline stretches farther than we wish it would. The wet sand clings to our feet, and the distance between where we stand and the water seems almost overwhelming. So often, life feels the same. We become consumed by the ground we have to cross instead of the horizon that is calling us forward.
This painting is a reminder to keep walking.
To lift our eyes beyond present circumstances and fix them on the hope that lies ahead. We live in the tension of the already and not yet—where Christ has secured our hope, but we still journey toward its fullness. The distance is real, but it is not endless. Every step, however slow, is one step closer to the glory that awaits.
"Let us run with endurance the race set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus..."
— Hebrews 12:1–2

This is part of the Already and Not Yet collection of oil paintings rooted in the glimpses we see of eternity and God's glory through the sky, the land, the sea, and all creation. A glory we can experience in part, but not yet fully– Already and Not Yet.

This is an original, one-of-a-kind painting. It will not be reproduced. Once it finds its home, it is gone.
